Weird Internet

Post by andyripper »

I've just got my VB up and running finally, after trying it out and throwing it out for years. I have Linux Tails and Ubuntu set up. I don't erally understand why the networking is such a pain. I have it set up as NAT as I only need to surf the net, and downlod repos thru the terminal. Firefox will not load, giving me server issues, however the Software Center loads fine. Any ideas?? I DO have a USB dongle that used to work with Ubuntu with my computer before I switched to this newer computer. I don't need it any more, but I still have it and am wondering if I need to use it with the expansion pack. I downloaded the expansion pack and am opening it now. If anyone has any comments please give them. I've read thru other threads but I don't see much where one thing works and another doesn't as far as basic network connection.

I actually changed my method. I installed the expansion pack, and plugged up a usb dongle for wifi. however, it is still acting really weird. I tried adding a filter for it, but no matter what way I activate it, it responds oddly. what happens is I disable it, or reboot the machine, and I will get a connection and then after about 15 seconds, it disconnects me. then the connection symbol keeps on doing what it does when its trying to connect. it does that for about a minute, then just stops completely. I'm at a loss to what is happening here.
