VB-4.3 - USB fails

Hi all.
I got two different hosts, same VBox release 4.3: one on CentoOS 6.4 one on W8-Pro. No VM VirtualBox Extension Pack installed.
The virtual machine is the same: CentoOS 6.4. They have guest-additions installed.
The guest on linux-host-VBox does not load usb devices (while host shows them with the lsusb command), the guest on w8-host-VBox works fine.
I had a search about some bugs, but they were referred to older versions (4.1.X).
Have you got some useful suggestion?

USB devices will not work if the extension pack is not installed. The GAs are not relevant to USB. I suggest you also read the USB section of the Configuring Virtual Machines chapter of the user manual, as this answers some of your questions.

Thanks for the answer, and sorry for delay: i had to build up a VPN to reach my remote.
Anyway, it sounds strange to me: i can see and manage my usb pen, even if i have not Extension Pack on.
Please, have a look on the attached pics.

So, which is the problem? Is that VB has a reverse bug?

I had a look on Cap. 3.10.1. USB settings, but there are non limitations for USB support, but EHCI controller 2.0.
Is it a matter of USB controller/software on different laptops' motherboards (asus/acer) or software (centos / windows8pro)?

The virtual USB2 controller is implemented by the extpack. Without the extpack your VM has no USB2.

Ok: no USB2, but my pen is on the Guest (1.1 USB rate, even if is 2.0? Ok, ok. No problems. I need it for hw keys).
But the question is: why does it not work on linux guest over linux hosts?

On newer Linux hosts, VirtualBox accesses USB devices through special files in the file system.
When VirtualBox is installed, these are made available to all users in the vboxusers system
group. In order to be able to access USB from guest systems, make sure that you are a member
of this group.

Hi, and thanks for the answer.
I did not find that note on the manual, but was sure that, the problem i got, is due to the host and not the guest (as - the same VM - works fine on VB_Over_W8 and W7).
I had in mind to turn to Ubuntu Server, to evaluate the results. But now, i will have an other test, working on Centos user/groups and their rights on VBox files.
I will post results.

And that was the key: we got to add linux-users to VB-group!
I always added an extra #chmod 666 /proc/bus/usb/00*/* command on the shell, 'cause i had some minor problems
