32-bit color (Win7 Guest, Mavericks Host, VB 4.3.0)

When starting a Windows 7 VM on a Mac OS X (Mavericks) and VirtualBox 4.3.0 host, I get the following warning:
"The virtual machine window is optimized to work in 32-bit color but the virtual display is currently set to 24-bit. Please open the display properties dialog of the guest OS and select a 32-bit color mode, if it is available, for the best possible performance of the virtual video subsystem."
The warning disappears a few seconds later (I couldn't find any way to keep it on display, so that I could study it), and the VM appears to operate normally thereafter.
Note: I made a simultaneous change from Mountain Lion to Mavericks and 4.2.18 to 4.3.0 (no hardware changes). Under Mountain Lion and 4.2.18, this warning message never appeared.
1. Is there a place where such warning messages are logged, so that I can view this one in less haste?
2. Any ideas how to prevent it from appearing in the first place? When I go in the VM to Control Panel .. Appearance and Personalization .. Display .. Screen Resolution .. Advanced settings, under the Monitor tab it does say "True Color (32-bit)".
TIA,
Mark
