Failing 64bit on a 64bit iMac

Post by wrc »

Trying out Windows 8 in my intel iMac (2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) and I get a failure " This 64 bit application couldn't load because your PC doesn't have a 64 bit processor" The error code it generates in the windows world is 0xc000035a. Is Virtualbox not a 64 bit app?

Where do you get that error precisly? In the VM, when you try to start Virtualbox manager in the host, when you try to install Virtualbox in the host?

Make sure VT-x is enabled in the host, and that nothing else is using it, and be sure to select the correct template when creating the VM, i.e. choose Win8 64bit, not Win8. Also don't choose Win8 if you mean Win8.1.
