Not an issue here, but something happened recently that is a bit strange.
I have a Ubuntu 13.04 x64 server running on my Win 8 host, and the operating system I selected on install was "Ubuntu" (e.g. NOT 64bit). I installed this server several months ago and it runs in x64 all perfectly well.
Well I just created a new Ubuntu 13.10 x64 install and I selected the "Ubuntu" option again (e.g. again NOT 64 bit) and on trying to install got the error:
All settings where identical to the other x64 but it wouldn't work. Well I then changed it to "Ubuntu 64bit" and all went fine.kernel requires an x86_64 cpu, but only detected an i686 cpu
unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your cpu
So as I say, this isn't a problem, but why did this happen this time? Surely I should have got the same error when I installed the 13.04 server right?
My only assumption is something changed from VB 4.2.16 to 4.3.0, cos the first 13.04 I installed on 4.2.16 and this one is on 4.3.0. It worth pointing out that both servers boot and run fine, so the 13.04 is running fine int he non 64bit mode.
Any ideas? I don't want to change my 13.04 OS to 64bit in case it screws things up.
