Can't get OS to install on VM

Post by kemperhills »

When I install VM and go through all the process until I get to the window where Windows is to be installed I get a screen that has "Collection information: highlighted' Dynamic update" highlighted, "Preparing installation" highlighted. But then it says beginning installation. It says installation will take 39 minutes and you see the progress bar working it stops several times and starts again and then I get the following error.

" A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

A process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart you computer> If this screen appears again, follow these steps.

(then there is information on what to do, but I don't understand what to do. Then the rest of the info is as follows.)

Technical information:

***STOP:0x000000F4 (0x00000003, 0x819d53F0,0x819d5564,0x905FB02E

Beginning dump of physical memory

How do I solve this problem. Thanks. :? :? :?

Thanks noteirak for the response. This is my first time trying to use a VM and I don't know what I am doing. Also I have no idea what you said or how to fulfill the minimum requirements you spoke of.

I was trying to run XP Pro, SP3 in the VirtualBox to use software and printers that won't work on anything newer than XP. But this seems to be over my head, so, thanks again for the response, but I will just uninstall the VM and make do.

The first thing we need is the log of the VM, as described in the link.
