Hi there
After upgrading
from: VirtualBox-4.2.16-86992-Win
to: VirtualBox-4.2.18-88781-Win
audio stopped working on all WinXP guests. The sound device in the device manager looks ok, but when playing sound / audio, there's just silence.
Host: Win7 HP 32
Guest: WinXP SP3
Host driver: WindowsDirectSound
Guest driver: AC97
I did the upgrade to 4.2.18 twice in order to verify, it's definitely related to this version. After downgrading to 4.2.16 audio is back.
Did anyone else encounter this?

Re: No sound on WinXP guests after 4.2.18 upgrade
OK, sorry for the incomplete details, here's the VBox.log.
There's still no sound on XP Guests even after installing the latest update VBox 4.3.6
I assume that the following lines (from logfile) are related to the problem:
Since there's just one host PC with this problem but for all WinXP guests on it, I assume it's a host issue, not client.
I've tried a couple of things in the meanwhile without success:
Any help is appreciated!

I've tried a couple of things in the meanwhile without success:
- Removed an elder SoundBlaster PCI sound card and its drivers
- re-installed Realtek HD Audiomanager
- uninstalled Realtek HD Audiomanager (and using Win7 standard drivers)
- used k-lite codec pack to fix broken filters / configs etc.
Any help is appreciated!

this is Definitely not Guest OS problem.. same guest os work fine at earlier version of VBox, 4.1.6 works for me
looking into source, error should be here..
