Hello,
I'm currently running VB version 4.2.16 on Windows 8 64 bit host with Windows XP 32 bit guest. As noted in another older post, using version 4.2.18 caused a Windows 8 BSOD when my Brother MFC-J200 printer was enabled in the XP guest. Uninstalling 4.2.18 and reinstalling 4.2.16 resolved that issue. With the release of version 4.3, is there a better way to test for resolution of my USB printer issue than installing/upgrading from version 4.2.16 to 4.3 and facing a possible BSOD event and going through the uninstall 4.3/reinstall 4.2.16 routine? Can I install version 4.3 with guest additions 4.3 on the Windows 8 host while leaving the 4.2.16 install in-place or is that a really bad idea? Thanks as always for the great support.

Guest additions have nothing to do with USB passthrough.
(Un)fortunately, you cannot install 2 VirtualBox versions side-by-side because we install global drivers that cannot be loaded/used in parallel among other things.
You can upgrade to VBox 4.3 without updating the guest additions in your guest but as I said, the guest additions should have no effect on USB passthrough.
