Chrome crashes VM and other troubles (Mint15 x64)

I'm running Mint 15 x64 on a Win8 x64, VirtualBox 4.2.18 r88780, GuestAdditions installed.

I have basically 2 problems, apart from which everything runs smoothly. First the more serious one:
When running Chrome there are quite a lot of websites that crash my hole VM. First a couple of grey boxes appear on the right side of the screen, Chrome becomes unresponsive, then everything else, lastly the whole screen turns white or grey and that's it. I can restart my VM. I somehow suspect that it has to do something with the graphics, maybe some openGL issue, I really don't know, not my field of expertise. I have attached the logs, I hope that helps.

The other problem is also connected to the graphics I guess. If I set up the VM to run with 2 displays, it crashes immediately after the Mint desktop has been loaded. I was never able to set other resultions than ones in 4:3 format (in the normal display settings) on the one display I'm at least able to use (I had to use the vm-manager to set it to 1080p).

I can live with using only one display, but the whole Chrome issue is driving me crazy, I would be super grateful if some of the nice folks here could help me out. If you need more information from me, I'll provide whatever is needed to figure this out as fast as I can.
