open suse 11.4 install hangs on boot

Hello,
I am trying to install opensuse 11.4 on a windows XP host. I am running virtualbox 4.2.18 r88780 with extension pack 4.2.18. The install appears to proceed normally, but when the vm restarts, it stops durring boot up. I have attached a capture of the boot screen at the point where it hangs.

I have installed opensuse VMs before and didn't have this problem. I can't see any differences in the settings for this VM and my other suse VM that works. Any suggestions on what the problem may be?
Please let me know if you need any additional information.

Try a cold boot instead of a warm boot. I see this occasionally and I believe it has to do with timing. Usually all I need to do is a complete shut down and then start.

I tried a cold re-boot and also did a shutdown and completely closed the vbox app as well. Boot is still getting stuck at what looks like the same point.
I have attached another capture in case the printout is different.

Says much the same thing. bad RIP value. Kernel issue for sure. Post the guests log file (as an attachment)

Is this the log file that you mean?

Looking at the directories where I have the virtual disks, it looks like I may have a permission issue there. I have no idea how I may have lost permissions on that drive but I will fix that and try a re-install. I would have expected an issue during the install if I didn't have permission to access the virtual drive but who knows.

Well I did a re-install after fixing the permissions, but there is no change. The boot screen is still hanging at the same place. I have attached the log file. Please let me know if this is not the correct log.

Yes that is the right log file.
I don't see any reason in the logs where VirtualBox is unhappy with the guest and nor explicit errors or warnings. The only thing I did notice was the 32-bit host and 64-bit guest. While this still should work there is a nasty overhead while doing this.
What exactly is drive H: ? Is it a network drive or USB drive?

The H: drive is a Crucial M4 SSD that I use to keep my virtual disks on. I have VMs for CentOS 5.9-x86_64, OpenSuSE-12.2-x86_64, and windows XP on the same drive and they all work. I did not install those working VMs on the Crucial SSD, I installed them on a different SSD and copied the partition later when I wanted a bigger SSD. I think the copying was where I had permission issues, but the existing VMs didn't have a problem with that and still worked.
I believe this is the first VM I have tried to install on this SSD. I can try to install again and put the virtual drive somewhere else if you think that is worth doing.

It might be worth trying to see if it takes care of the issue. Like I said earlier this usually happens because of timing issue, but there could be other issues as well. I/O cache could be one of them.

Well I'm not having much luck. I have tried installing with a vdisk on other drives. I have tried version 11.3 as well. I have tried with 512MB, 1000MB, and 1500MB of RAM. I have tried with PAE enabled. None of this seems to make any difference and the boot screen still seems to freeze in more of less the same place. I am running out of ideas here.
I have a working VM for opensuse 12.2, so I am stumped as to why this won't work. I did a minimal installation with the most basic setup in vbox.
I have attached the latest log in case that helps.

Afraid I can't help much more here. I looked and I don't have 11.4 any longer and tried to see if it was available to download and it has been removed and no longer available. (reached EOL "Nov 2012" and discontinued )

The iso is still available here,
http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.4/iso/
the 11.3 iso can be found here,
http://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/discon ... /11.3/iso/
I have no way of knowing if these iso files are correct. I checked the md5sum as I always do, but I don't know if that really tells you anything at this point.

Just so I don't waste a lot of time. which package is it you downloaded?
Once I have that I will see what is going on. It may be Sat before I can actually get time to install it.

I downloaded openSUSE-11.4-DVD-x86_64.iso and openSUSE-11.4-DVD-x86_64.iso.md5 for the chksum. For 1.3 I downloaded the same.
I suppose I could try one of the live CD and see if that will run in the VM.
