FYI, I downloaded the KDE live CD version and suse will run in the VM from the live cd. I tried to install from the live CD from inside the live CD suse. It installs, but I get the same error on reboot.

I installed just fine. But that may not be a big deal. I don't use Windows, nor 32-bit host, or SSD,

Well thanks for trying. I will see if I can do what I need to with my working 12.2 VM. If that doesn't work, I guess I will have to install 11.4 on real hardware.
If you were to export your working 11.4 to an ova file and upload it somewhere, do you think that there is any chance that I could import it and have it work here? I know that the first boot after install can be tricky, so maybe that is the issue. If you think that is worth trying, I can set up an ftp site to upload to. Let me know.

Sorry I have already deleted it. diddn't see a reason to hang on to it since it has gone past the EOL.
The only thing I can tell you is the creation of kdump (which causes the main problems at install) really depends on the amount of RAM you have assigned to the guest. You can try to install with 2048 but you would need to make sure you have everything shut down on the host so the RAM is available to the guest or see about disabling it on install.
