alt gr character in a VM via RDP

Post by Fritzl »

Hi, I`m connecting to a Win 8 machine hosting a Linux VM (CentOS 6.3 or Debian 7.1) via RDP from a Win 7 machine. In a terminal window I trying to type a pipe character. On the german keyboard this is "ALT Gr" + "<". But it doesn work. The prompt either doesn`t react at all or pulls a command from command history. When I log-on to the same Win 8 vbox host (not via RDP) and try the pipe character in the same Linux terminal window, it works fine. So this is clearly related to RDP. At the same time, I can type a pipe character via RDP on a Windows 8 DOS prompt. So its a problem related to RDP, but only in conjuction with vBox.
The pipe character works fine via a direct vbox remote connection (with the vbox remote connetion feature), but not with the native RDP. The guest extension is installed on both VMś.
Have you come across this problem and has someone an idea how to fix it?
Thanks.
