VPN in linux guest

Dear Virtual box forum

I have been using virtual box for some time now for educational purposes and personal hobby. I mainly use it to install linux'es and my last projekt i debian 7

I decided that i want to make my debian VB connecto to the internet through openVPN.

However when i try to set it up i realise that it seems like virtualbox guest connects to the net around the network-manager. That seems kinda strange to me. And thus i cant get the guest to choose the VPN connection. it simply just connects without even trying the VPN - though i set it all up as the BTGuard guide said.

i made this post to see if anyone here has had the same issue - and maybe there is a solution :)

best regards
Jacob

i solved this.

It seems it was not a virtual box issue after all :S *embaressed*... following solwed it:

Most probably your interface appears in /etc/network/interfaces. By default, NetworkManager does not manage interfaces that appear in /etc/network/interfaces. You can change this behaviour.

To do this - in a terminal:

sudo nano /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf

change the line managed=false to managed=true

Save, stop and start network manager:

sudo service network-manager restart
