i am now running OSX 10.9 as my host, and Windows Server 2012 as my guest
seems that the guest additions have no effect on the 2012.
Seamless mode doesn't work and unable to change resolution..stuck at 1024x768
tried below commands and it doesn't work too
VBoxManage setextradata global GUI/MaxGuestResolution any
VBoxManage setextradata "Win2k12" "CustomVideoMode1" “1280x800x32"
previously was running 10.8.5 and there wasn't any issues before
OSX 10.9 Mavericks compatibility?

Re: OSX 10.9 Mavericks compatibility?
If "guest additions have no effect" means that autorun didn't happen, that's because autorun is disabled in recent versions of Windows. After selecting the "Devices|Install Guest Additions" menu option you need to browse to the virtual CD (inside the VM) and run the exe manually.
Your question has nothing to do with the host. It's entirely about features of the guest.

Re: OSX 10.9 Mavericks compatibility?
it's rather presumptuous to say the guest additions weren't installed because auto-run was disabled. dun you think?
i am sure it is installed because after the installation, a reboot is necessary and I did that twice.
moreover previously was running 10.8.5 and there wasn't any issues before and guest additions were already installed then
also, under Control Panel -> Install/Uninstall Programs, "Oracle VM VirtualBox Guest Additions 4.2.18" is listed as a program that could be uninstalled.

Re: OSX 10.9 Mavericks compatibility?
AFAIK partial Maverick support doesn't even start until 4.3 RC1 and that may be your issue.
And given that seamless is still experimental I wouldn't expect too much from it.

I started my sentence with "If" - I proposed a scenario which might have been what you were talking about, and told you how to fix it. I'm sorry if my attempt to help offended you, I promise not to do it again.Uzzikie wrote:it's rather presumptuous to say the guest additions weren't installed because auto-run was disabled. dun you think?

It is not safe to assume anything, certainly not on this forum. If you do not explicitly say what you did and didn't do, people responding to you have to expect the unexpected. I'm sure that is annoying but unfortunately inevitable.Uzzikie wrote:it's rather presumptuous to say the guest additions weren't installed because auto-run was disabled. dun you think?
So you say VirtualBox 4.2.18 worked fine on 10.8.5, but doesn't work on 10.9.0? If that is the case, why are you not complaining to Apple? You clearly have a developer account so you can easily do that...i am sure it is installed because after the installation, a reboot is necessary and I did that twice.
