I am installing a new guest Oracle Linux 6.4 the installer fails with the message " Unable to read package metadata, cannot retrieve repository metadata repomd.xml for repository: anaconda-UEK2 verify it's path ..." I have been looking at some of the other posts but they all seem to be getting this error running yum however mine is from the install disk. Any ideas? I have attached the box log file.

Have you checked the md5sum against what it is supposed to be to determine if the ISO is corrupt?

If you are doing a normal install and the install suggests there is a problem with a meta data package it almost always means there is an issue with the install media.
It may also be that you have downloaded the wrong media file. Checking that it appears you are trying to install an update and not the full package.
Code: Select all
00:00:00.642602 File system of 'C:\Users\Terry\Downloads\V37088-01.iso' (DVD) is ntfs
V37088-01.iso = update (Your media states you are trying to install this one)
V37084.01 = Full install (This is the one you need since you do not have an already installed version of OEL6)
