Failed tol load VMMR0.r0(VERR_SUPLIB_OWNER_NOT_ROOT)

Hello,

I have a problem to run a virtual machine on a maxbook pro. When try to start the virtual machine following error message occurs:


Für die virtuelle Maschine WinXPSP3_Basic konnte keine neue Sitzung eröffnet werden.

Failed to load VMMR0.r0 (VERR_SUPLIB_OWNER_NOT_ROOT).

Fehlercode:NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Komponente:Console
Interface:IConsole {db7ab4ca-2a3f-4183-9243-c1208da92392}

I'am using:
Virtualbox for max Version: 4.2.18 r88780
Max OS X : 10.8.5

I was using virtualbox the last time in about january this year, and tried it yesterday the first time since january. Before I started the virtual machine, I updated virtualbox to the avove mentioned version.

Can somebody help me?

Run the Repair Disk Permissions using DIsk Utility on your MAC host then it should work.

FYI -- you must have run some application which screwed up the permissions. Unfortunately it's very difficult to find out what it was after the fact. But if you do find out, you should definitely ask the author/vendor to stop messing up people's disks.
