Problems with Linux Mint Debian Edition UP7

Post by swordfish »

I am running Linux Mint Debian Edition under VirtualBox (current version 4.2.18) and I have just updated to Update Pack 7. It is not currently a very satisfactory experience.

This issues I am having are:

3 or 4 crashes this morning, 2 or 3 when trying to reboot and 1 when trying to get a text console with CTRL-ALT-F1. I don't think I have been able to reboot successfully. Windows reports that VirtualBox manager has stopped working early in the reboot process.

VirtualBox Guest Additions doesn't work, so I can't get a decent display, hence the reboots, trying to get it working.

The scroll wheel on my mouse isn't detected any more.

I suspect that these are VirtualBox issues rather than LMDE issues.

Is anyone else seeing this?

Did you have these issues before you updated to UP7?

A little extra information.

I think these problems are now resolved. It seems that I had 4.2.16 modules partly installed from the Mint or Debian repositories as well as 4.2.18 from the ISO. Uninstalling both and reinstalling from Debian didn't work. Uninstalling those and reinstalling from the ISO seems to have resolved all or most of the problems.
