limited internet access

I have Oracle Linux 6.4 running in VirtualBox 4.2.18 on Windows XP .
My problem is that access from the guest to the internet is limited to just a few sites, e.g. google and yahoo, but oracle.
The host machine (windows) does not have any limitation.
I have switched between NAT and bridged network but no difference.
Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot or fix?

Sounds like something on the host side is restricting access. Check firewall and virus software.

The internet connection problem I described occurs when the physical device (laptop) has a wireless connection and the VirtualBox network has been configured as a bridged (or NAT) network. When the physical device has a physical cable and the VirtualBox is bridged, the internet connection works fine. What I want is a VirtualBox bridged network on a wireless device. Is there a known limitation in the configuration of VirtualBox bridge networking with wireless networks?

Yes it can be but it really depends on your access point. Some work and some don't from what I see. Mine does (older linksys) work bridged with guests.

There is a limitation by the hardware & firmware running on wireless devices, as it is P2P per nature, but you actually try to add a 3rd wheel there. Some hardware support it, some don't.
