Windows XP VM on OSX Host won't boot

Hi, everyone from a newbie -

I have been successfully running Virtualbox using it for a Windows XP OS install on my macbook (of which I am also new to, this year) since April. I am running VirutalBox 4.2.18. I am very pleased with the VirutalBox software, as I was able to install it, and get everything running just using google to suss out my answers when I had questions.

Yesterday, all of a sudden, I cannot boot my WinXP VM. I see the Windows "blue screen of death" appear after the OS starts, but it flashes by too quickly and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to pause a screen display on my macbook's keyboard to read the screen's contents. But the OS will not boot at all, and it brings me back to the Windows startup screens that has the selections of safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, etc.

I will happily upload any log files that I can get to, if anyone can assist me. It's a bit critical that I get this working for a customer visit tomorrow.

Thanks very much in advance -

- Bill Schmidt

Please provide a VM log file: Minimum information needed for assistance.

If you can boot the VM in safe mode then un-ticking My Computer | Advanced | Startup and Recovery settings | Automatically restart will allow you to read and report the BSOD stop code details. If you can't boot in safe mode then there's a VBoxManage command line settings that tells the VM to freeze on a reset, though I can never remember what it is...
