Hello, All!
I had downloaded VirtualBox 4.2.18 (88781). When I had try to install it - it has hangs on, if I had right, on changing network settings. Computer works, but there's no network connection. I had waited for a long time, but nothing happened. Canceling of installation had the same effect: button can be pressed, but nothing was happened. When I tried to look at network interface properties, Windows showed me a message that page of settings already opened and, therefor some settings has not be accessible. Disconnect of network interface led to hangs of connection page, but computer still working. Reboot the only way to stopped VirtualBox install process. What's it was?

When it seems to hang, look down at the toolbar and see if you can see a network icon hunting for a connection. I usually cancel this, and the installation instantly and successfully completes. I then go into Device Manager and re-enable (under "Network Adapters") the "VirtualBox Host Only Adapter", and then I'm ready to rock.

I believe that the installation does eventually succeed if you leave it long enough.

If this isn't it, then more information will be required: e.g. telling us exactly what your host OS is would be a nice start!

Thank you for you answer.
Oh, I'm sorry: forgot to write about my host OS. It is Windows XP SP3.
I had tried to cancel network connection, but after pressing on button "disconnect", it's showed only blind gray window without text and buttons. I've think that some network processes can't be stopped by VirtualBox and installation process hangs.

There is no disconnect button where I intended, so I guess you must have misunderstood. I intended that you would right click on the toolbar network icon, but only provided it seems to be hunting for a connection. If you hover over this icon it should say "VirtualBox Host Only Adapter" (or similar). If you right click the icon a menu pops up, this menu does not contain a "Disconnect" item, but does contain a "Disable" option to be used as I described earlier.

As it happens I also use XP SP3 as my host, so I know VirtualBox should work fine.
