getting fatal error when triying to start up a guest machine

Sorry Perry, my computer locked up and I had to reboot.

I have the shared folder setup. I named it "USB-Folder" and mapped it to a folder on my USB thumb drive.

what next?

Well now comes the fun part. You need to copy the file/s to the share.

go to the folder that has the file/s in it that you want and then use the following.

cp <file name and extension> /<the mount point you used for the sahred folder>
repeat for each file.
keep in mind that if the files are large it may take a bit.

I did the CP command and then both finished pretty quickly. Do I need the "/' between the file name and the shared folder? I didn't put that in. Here is exactly what I typed.

cp archive.tar USB-Folder

It almost immediately returned to the command prompt. Looking at my USB drive in Windows File Explorer and nothing got copied.

Is the mount point the shared folder name that I setup? (USB-Folder)

post the exact statement you used to create the share on the guest.

sudo mount -t vboxsf -o uid=1000,gid=1000 USB-Folder /mnt/VirtualBox

[Perryg]

the mount point is /mnt/VirtualBox and that will place it in the share name location on the host.

Got the files onto my USB Drive. This was my goal...too bad it took me all day.
