No 3D support on Core-i7 4770K

Hello!

This is my first post here with hope that i'm conform with the rules here and you can understand my limited english ;-)

I have VBox installed on a Win 7 x64 Host and try to install Win 7 x64 as a Guest. When i'm activate 3D hardware accelleration, so the guest crashes or tells that accelleration is not available. When i'm run Windows Experience Index on guest, so it crashes without blue screen. The guest is fresh installed, no modifications of configuration. Only the VBox guest additions are installed, not more. When i'm disable 3D accelleration in VBox config, the guest is more stable but very slow UI.

The host machine:
- Intel Core i-7 4770K
- 16 GB DDR RAM
- no additional video card (only CPU)
- 1 GB shared RAM with GPU

For the virtual machine config have a look at attached file.

For further testing reasons i have imported an older virtual machine (also Win 7 x64) which working perfectly on other host machine. Windows starts normal to the logon/welcome screen and after logging in and switching to desktop, the screen begins to "flicker", not readable but you can see that windows works normal behind. If you know where the start button is and click on that, a white frame opens at the place where the startmenu is. The same at all other windows, only white frames, no content and permanently flickering.

Hope that you can help :-)

Greetings
Cody

Post the guests log file (as an attachment)
See Online Users Manual for the location of the file.

This is the client log. The guest was new started and the first and only thing i'm run was Windows Experience Index refresh. Until this test the VM crashes.

Did you install the wddm drivers when you installed the guest additions? Also remember that Win 7 does not need to have the guest additions installed in safe mode and will cause issues if you install the experimental 3D drivers that way. Finally make sure you have the newest host drivers for your graphics card.

If you need to post a reply please post another log file with the 3D enabled so it will show more of what is going on.

I have tested both options: WDDM drivers and experimental drivers. With WDDM the system does not support 3D but works (but slow) and WPI refresh goes to crash. Last WPI test before crash is "Windows Media Decoding Performance Test". With experimental drivers, the system goes to a flickering screen after login/welcome screen.

The log posted above was definitely with 3D-enabled in guest options. Here is a new one from the latest crash. As you say, i have downloaded and installed newest intel HD 4600 drivers from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail ... ldID=22842 but without any effect.
