Hello everybody,

I've a strange behavior with my left CTRL. If I do "Ctrl-C", "Ctrl-V", "CTRL-X", CTRL-s", "CTRL-Z" I have no problem but if I want to "CTRL-SHIFT-)" or "CTRL-2", it does not work. I tried changing my host key of "Right Ctrl" to "F12" but nothing changes.

What can I do?

PS : I'm running on Ubuntu 13.04 with VirtualBox 4.2.18 r88780 and a guest Windows XP SP3

Ctrl-C etc are standard characters with ASCII codes. "Ctrl+Shift+(" is not.

So what do you mean by "does not work"? What would constitute working?

It was as if just "SHIFT-)" is pressed.

There's no such thing as Shift+')'. Keyboards layouts differ, but on mine the keystroke would be Shift+'0', which maps to ')'.

Please try to be more clear about what you're expecting. E.g. give an repeatable example of something which works on a physical PC but not in a VM.

My keyboard is a belgian Azerty, the software is Adobe Illustrator.

"CTRL-SHIFT-)" is a keyboard shortcut, it put element in background. If I trying it on a physical windows, element goes to background, but in WM not.

This may seem like nitpicking, but it isn't: can you produce a ')' without pressing shift, on your host keyboard? If not, then the key is generally referred to by its unshifted state - on my keyboard that would be '0'. So Ctrl+Shift+0 would define a keystroke. You could also say Ctrl+')' to mean the same keystroke.

By saying "Ctrl+Shift+)" you are saying that ')' is available as an unshifted key on a Belgian keyboard: that may well be true, as I've never used one, but it would imply that your problem in the VM is that you have not selected the correct keyboard mapping in the guest OS (most guests use a US keyboard layout by default, which definitely does not have ')' available on an unshifted key).

How I map the keyboard correctly ? On host, it's fr_be, on guest, it's fr_be and "Auto Capture Keyboard" is checked. And on guest only fr_be is installed.

That depends on the guest OS. Basically, you go into the guest control panel, keyboard, and select the correct keyboard.

It's what I Do. My guest OS is a Windows XP. Only belgian is installed.
