Mac OS X Guest won't ACPI Shutdown

Post by WingnutWilson »

Hi folks, I'm new to this whole world but maybe someone can help me. I have Windows 8 and am trying to use a Mac OS X guest, all runs smooth enough except that I cannot shutdown correctly. When I hit ACPI Shutdown the screen goes white and nothing happens. If I click on the screen it comes back to life straight away but never actually shuts down - so my only option for shutdown is to either save the state to the disc, or power off which works but according to the Help files is the equivalent of literally pulling the power cord (not good). Any suggestions as to how I can trace what has gone wrong?

I followed instructions on lifehacker (to the letter) to get this set up, I can't post urls but the article is titled: "How to run Mac OS X inside windows using virtual box"

Thanks for any responses :D
