Moving Ubuntu guest from Vista 32 to Windows 7 64 issue

Post by LeStra »

Hi,

As the title suggests, I ran into the problem while trying to migrate existing Ubuntu 1204 guest from Vista 32 Ultimate host to Windows 7 64 Ultimate host. The problem is that GRUB loader shows up (screenshot attached), and when I try to load anything, it ends up with the following error:
Spurious ack on isa0060 serio0. Some program might be trying to access hardware directly

Original host details:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 DualCore TK-55 1.80GHz
RAM 2GB DDR2
VirtualBox 4.2.4 r81684
Vista 32bit Ultimate SP2

New host details:
AMD FX-4100 QuadCore
RAM 8GB DDR3
VirtualBox 4.2.18 r88780
Windows 7 64 Ultimate SP1

Can anyone suggest where the problem may be?
Thanks.

I don't understand what just happened... it works now.
I've been pointed out that since I transferred it to a new machine, VT feature of the CPU may not be enabled. So I checked the BIOS settings, and AMD SVM feature was already enabled... after this restart, I ran the machine once again in the recovery mode, proceeding with normal boot, and the VM now loads fine.
