Hi everybody,
Firstly I just want to said hello (it's my first topic) and secondly just forgive me for my English.
I want to create a local network with two virtual machines on Windows Server 2008.
The first machine will be an Active Directory Domain with an DNS and the second machine will be a Server SQL.
For that I need to have a domain network between us.
So I create my two virtual machines and when I installed AD on my first machine the DNS didn't work (it can't find my ip fixed address) but I have two networks cards on it :
- interface 1: Internal networking "intnet" with 198.168.0.100/24 (for my local network)
- interface 2: NAT (for internet)
For the second machine it's the same :
- interface 1: Internal networking "intnet" with 198.168.0.101/24 and DNS 198.168.0.100 (for my local network)
- interface 2: NAT (for internet)
The ping between us works but when I try to put my second machine in my domain it's doesn't work (because of the DNS of my domain - I think) and my AD send me a lot of errors messages about DNS (it can't find the static address).
So do you have any solution about why the DNS think the interface 1 isn't static ? And Could you please help me to fix it ?
Thanks if you can help me.
Lily.

Moved this topic to "Using Virtualbox"
Internal networking is actually a virtual network that doesn't exist outside of the memory of your computer, so you shouldn't use IPS on a network that is your real LAN, you'll only confuse the OS.
For an overview of how you should setup an AD domain using virtualbox, you should look at this topic first, then feel freel to ask more questions if it is not clear.
But be aware that we try to keep questions to Virtualbox itself. Things like AD domain and IP networking are software topic, where Virtualbox is hardware. You might also want to look into some tutition about that on Internet before going further with your setup, so you understand things properly.
