Hi guys,

I recently started having an issue with VB. After updating to the latest version, all my virtual hosts crash on start up.

Here's the log:
VBox.zip
(33.05 KiB) Downloaded 14 times
I dont add the png file as it's just black.

I run windows 7, 64 bits.
vb: 4.2.16

Would anyone know what's going on?

thanks

At least in the VirtualBox context, there is no such thing as a "Virtual Host". The host is your physical PC, so-called because it acts as host to your virtual PCs, otherwise known as guests.
VBox.log wrote: 00:00:02.200820 Host RAM: 3558MB total, 1638MB available
...
00:00:02.460816 RamSize <integer> = 0x0000000080000000 (2 147 483 648, 2 048 MB)
Your host doesn't have enough RAM for this Debian guest. You need a bigger host or a smaller guest. You might also try just freeing up host RAM before running any VMs

Thanks for the explanations and the answer.

I have reduced the RAM size to 512MB, but it is still crashing.

Here's the new log:
VBox.zip
(35.29 KiB) Downloaded 6 times

Now it's a different crash.
VBox.log wrote: 00:00:04.293240 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

00:00:04.293282 !!
00:00:04.293282 !! {mappings, <NULL>}
00:00:04.293283 !!
This probably has to do with trying to run a 64bit guest in 512MB.

Sorry, I don't use Debian, in fact I don't use 64bit anything, so I can't advise you on requirements. All you can do is experiment - and consider buying more RAM (IMHO 4GB in a 64bit host is pointless).

Code: Select all

00:00:02.461176 IOAPIC <integer> = 0x0000000000000000 (0)
Log shows IOAPIC is off. Enable it and try again.
