WinXP fails to automatically install Virtual Box USB driver

Post by Alek000123 »

OS Windows XP 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600 + VirtualBox 4.2.16 with Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack
+ VBox Guest Additions 2.2.0 installed

When I plug in any USB device Windows fails to install Virtual Box USB driver automatically or contacting MS update.
I tried to configure USB device filter for several various USB devices with the same result

I can't find the driver searching the web.
Has anyone had a similar problem?
Every manual tells Windows should  automatically install the driver.
It doesn't work for me though.

You can find the usb drivers under C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\drivers\USB and try to manually install them prior to plugin a USB device.

Thanks a lot, it worked.
It was a kind of stupid not to check the VB directory for drivers.
