Host-Only Adapter Issue

Hi,

I have just recently updated my Oracle Virtual Box to version 4.2.16. Since I have upgraded the installation, my Host-Only Adapter has ceased to work. I have attempted to add the adapter via File > Preferences > Networks > Add host-only network (Ins). However, any effort to add the adapter this way results in an error message which states “Failed to create the host-only network interface.”

To try and overcome this issue I have attempted to add the Host-only Adapter via the Add New Hardware Wizard. When I attempt to add C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\drivers\network\netadp\VBoxNetAdp.inf Windows tells me that the installation of the device has resulted in an error and tells me insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.

I have also tried reinstalling Virtual Box and Downgrading to different versions – none of which have worked. I’m out of ideas on how to fix this issue. Has anyone seen this before and if so can you please provide a fix / guidance?

Kind regards,

Wokawidget.

So is there no one who can offer any form of support for this issue?

File | Preferences | Network allows you to create a new virtual network, this has nothing to do with, and doesn't require, installation of additional drivers on the host.

Perhaps you should try reinstalling VirtualBox, making sure you have admin rights so that drivers will be installed.

If you want to discuss this further then please provide full details, including precise wording of any error messages, and version details of host and guest OS installed. A VM log file may also be useful. See Minimum information needed for assistance.
