Firewalls slow down connectuin from Host->Guest

Post by marco.k »

Hi,

first here is what i do. I have Win 7 and run Vbox with a debbian inside it. In the Debian i run my apache and ebsites i am developing, so the vm is my delopment webserver. Everything is running. The VM has 2 Network Adapters, one Host-Only and one NAT for the internet of the debian.

I can reach the websites on my development server by typing 10.10.4.15/mysite in the browser of the host system. Fine so far.

The Problem
When i activate a Firewall and then type in 10.10.4.15/mysite it loadas and loads...and after around a minute it shows the page. If i disable the Firewall it loads in 1-2 seconds. Windows Firewall does this as well as Comodo Firewall.

Any ideas whats going on? Thank you

i found the solution after a long time. disabling the firewall alsow fixed it but....bad fix.

i discovered a fun thing when you use virtualbox with php and xdebug as guest. the host is win and has firewall enabled. if you enable an xdebug connection, then all calls to the vm via browser take like 1-2 minutes . combo of death :). ofc solution is the config of xdebug.

In my case i also use PHPSTORM to debug.
