So I installed Windows XP on a virtual machine because there is no current existing driver for Windows 7 right now (even though they still sell them today.) I tried connecting the "Dazzle Video Creator Platinum HD" device (and I tried this on all three USB ports I have) just incase there were any incompatibility issues with it being in a USB 3.0 rather than a standard USB reader.


My primary computer's information is:
Intel Core i7 2670QM (Sony)
8GB Memory

Just in case anyone might have any interesting theories on my laptop's USB readers. They seem to work perfectly normal as far as I'm concerned so Its just a problem with the device and the Virtualbox.

I have the proper software installed on Windows XP (in VB) that is supposed to detect the device, but I realize that the USB device isn't even activated in VB. So I right click the USB and click the only thing showing up "Pinnacle Systems,Inc.DVC 170"

But no matter what USB port I use, I get this message.

Failed to attach the USB device Pinnacle Systems, Inc. DVC 170 to the virtual machine WindowsXP.
USB device 'Pinnacle Systems, Inc. DVC 170' with UUID {a25ae86a-1e48-491d-a295-143f094f3528} is busy with a previous request. Please try again later.

I have no idea how to solve this.

virtualbox usb device is busy with a previous request [SOLVED]

I faced the same problem when I lost my old laptop and bought a new one two weeks ago...
I never had this happened before..

My old pc settings..
Host: Win 7 Ultimate 64, Lenovo G470, Intel i3 2nd generation, 8G ram
Guest: Ubuntu 12.04, Win Xp 32, Win 7 32, Win 7 64, Centos 5.9 64, Centos 5.9 i586
VB version 4.2.16

I lost the pc 2 days before ver 4.2.18 were released..
My boss replaced it with 2 pc!

My current settings...
Host: Win 7 Ultimate 64, Lenovo G405s, AMD A8, 16G ram
Guest: about the same
VB version 4.2.18

Host: Win 8 Single, Lenovo S410p, Intel i5 4th gen, 16G ram
Guest: about the same
VB version 4.2.18

I google around for two weeks, all I found were unanswered questions...

I do everything I could think off...
switching my host to XP, win 7 and win 8 even ubuntu and centos in 32 and 64 bit flavors...
downgrading the VB until version 4.2.12...
mix matching the host OS an VB version...
mix matching the guest additions...
changing, updating, reinstalling usb drivers and such...
even creating several P2V machines that recognize my pendrives and external drives

all i got is nothing... the problem persists... until...

IT FINALLY HITS ME 2 days ago..

MY OLD PC DOES NOT COME WITH USB 3.0...
and I've been using USB 3.0 on both my new pc, although each pc has ONE USB 2.0 port.
thats got me thinking maybe the problem lies with VB usb driver.

so I stick my pendrive into the USB 2.0 port... lo and behold! IT WORKS!!!!
once the pendrive is accessible on the guest and the driver installed i put the pendrives in my USB 3.0..
AGAIN IT WORKS!!!
now I'm don't have any problem with my pendrives..
the pendrives I used are Toshiba, Pendrive, Kingston and Sandisk.

But the same cannot be said with external drive, I just got 1 Seagate expansion USB 3.0 drive.
all my other drives are lost together with my pc...
the guest will only recognize it if I put it in the USB2.0 port..

but my guess is, an external USB 2.0 drive could behave the same way as the pendrives.

for those who doesn't know how tyo differentiate, USB 3.0 ports are blue and USB 2.0 are black, look inside the port.
