I just upgraded my PC to a Micro-ATX board and need to purchase a quad port NIC to run my VM's. Due to the high cost I wanted to make sure there are no issues when it comes to Vbox NIC virtualization.
Host OS = Windows 7 x64
The NIC I want to purchase is an Intel I340-T4 Quad port
Intel quad port NIC support

Re: Intel quad port NIC support
Just FYI: a quad port NIC is not normally required in order to run VMs. Typically the VMs share normal host resources, e.g. the typical single wired NIC, if there's a second NIC it's usually wireless.
That said, it shouldn't matter to VirtualBox what NICs are on the host, provided the host supports it. As far as VirtualBox is concerned I assume it would just see four NICs available on the host, any of which a VM could bridge to. The VM sees a single port NIC (unless you add multiple NICs to the recipe).

Re: Intel quad port NIC support
I need a 4 port NIC because I want to segregate network traffic that will be connected to different network segments.
I thought it would work but after buying a Logitech C920 webcam and finding out that it won't work in my Ubuntu guest was a real downer.
Thanks for your reply.
