Low Memory host with 4.2.16

Post by acidblood »

Hi,
I work with 2 vm, one windows7 (32b) 2gbmemory/1cpu and an other windows2003 (32b) 4gbmemory/2cpu on a Windows 2008r2 x64 16gbmemory.
Everything work fine on Virtualbox 4.2.10, but i upgrade to 4.2.16 (don't know why, stupid idea) and my VM windows2003 refuse to start with 4gbmemory with the "low memory host" error, if i down the memory to 2048 it's start alone, but can't start my 2 VM simultaneous and same with 1024mb, my 2vm refuse to start, need to down at 1024mb each to start the 2VM.
and my w7 2gb start normaly (but alone).

I don't change anything in the config of the VM, just upgrade Virtualbox from 4.2.10 to 4.2.16 (and i will reinstall 4.2.10 early).

If someone can help me ;)

It will certainly be interesting to see if reverting to v4.2.10 solves the problem.

AFAIK the issue is that VBox requires the allocated memory to be contiguous, so if something else is hogging "islands" of memory in the address space then you might get this problem. You should look in the task list to see if there are any obvious memory hogs. Obvious VBox itself is one, for the purpose of running a second VM.
