One or more virtual disks are not reachable

Post by etwoss »

Hi

I installed VirtualBox, copied a folder from other system with a VDI file to my new system.
I used VBOXMANGE internalcommands sethduuid to give the VDI a new ID

Now when i start VirtalBox i get a message (in dutch) telling me one of the virtaldisk is not reachable.
The virtual media managet just shows a yellow ! but does not tell me whats wrong.

Who can help me?

Why did you change the hd UUID? That will guarantee failure of the VM, which is looking for a hard disk with the old UUID. The problem is fixable provided you've not used snapshots: go to File|Virtual Media Manager and Release the old disk. Shut down VirtualBox completely for 30 seconds, start it again, then go to the Storage section of the VM settings and mount the new drive (click on the disk controller and click the "Add hard disk" icon beside it).

Changing UUIDs is only necessary if you have a conflict object on the same course, and then I expect you would have to change the UUIDs of the VM and all disks attached to it.
