Host OS x guest OS benchmarks

Where can I found official benchmarks, using the same OS, like Win7 x Win7, Ubuntu 13.04 x Ubuntu 13.04, ...

There are no official benchmarks that offer a definitive indicator of performance. Part of the problem is, one first needs to define what performance really is.
How you factor in various benchmarks like network, disk I/O, SMP, 3D passthrough etc. into realistic workloads is also something that needs to be considered. Couple these with variables like caching effects, transparent overclocking, interrupt load, host scheduling to name a few, and it quickly becomes evident that profiling and interpreting the results is not trivial and require knowledge of these variables and how to control them along with a decent knowledge of how the hypervisor and VM works and what is it exactly that one is measuring.
There are big picture benchmarks like VMMark (but we are not allowed to publish results for those benchmarks) and then there maybe several micro benchmarks available that claim to profile Virtual Machines well, but so far I've not come across any de facto benchmark standard for all VMs that is widely used.

Hi.
Thank you by your reply.
Do you know the link to any published benchmark?

I think he just told you that benchmarks are BS.

BS?!?

Yep. IMHO they are never a substitute for understanding, and if you understand the issues you seldom need benchmarks. Benchmarking a VM is particularly pointless since its time is shared with the host.

I think differently. Benchmarking the VM is particularly useful to know the MAXIMUM I can expect from it.

Without a reliable time reference? Well, each to their own.
