I have tried running Virtualbox on 2 separate Windows Server 2012 hosts now, and both times I create a virtual machine (the OS did not seem to matter, but for reference one was running Windows Server 2003 x64, the other was running Windows Server 2003 x86) the performance is AWFUL. I have virtualbox running on several other Windows Servers of varying older OSes, and they run fine. Has anyone else experienced serious performance issues when running on Windows Server 2012? Here are some of the problems I have seen:
1) Boot times are ridiculous - ranging from 30m - 1 hour
2) Time for start menu to appear after clicking the button - 15m - 30m
3) Opening programs can really vary in times depending on the application itself, but again ridiculous times versus what the physical machine would take to open
Please don't come back & ask me "have you set your RAM accordingly?" Yes, the RAM for each of these machines were at least what was allocated to the physical machine. The host machines in each case are made to be Virtual Hosts - tons of RAM (at least 16GB each), and I'm leaving plenty of RAM for the host to operate as well (at least 2GB usually more).
The other hosts that are running Server 2008 & below all run fine and have no problems like these. I'm wanting to get feedback of others who have used Windows Server 2012 please.
