Using a previous VHD in a new PC
Posted: 12. Aug 2013, 12:20
Hi all, I'm asking the following question because, after searching the forum for more than 2 hours, I could not find the answer...
What happens...I used a virtual machine on a win7 32 laptop...both laptop & hard drive died...
So I installed Vbox on a new laptop, always win 7 32, and I tried to reuse the backup of the above mentioned virtual machine (it's a win xp guest).
But, when I tell Vbox to use this VHD, i receive this message (ok, it's italian language, but I'm italian...):
Apertura non riuscita del disco fisso C:\Users\ENC-IT\.VirtualBox\Windows XP Mode SP3.vhd.
Parent medium with UUID {c80aca75-02d9-f647-a457-be6fa88c8e1a} of the medium 'C:\Users\ENC-IT\.VirtualBox\Windows XP Mode SP3.vhd' is not found in the media registry ('C:\Users\ENC-IT/.VirtualBox\VirtualBox.xml').
could not open virtual hard drive etc etc etc...
Anyone who experienced the same problem could help me ?
I will appreciate any useful information.
Thanks a lot...
Pippo
