Problem installing Ubuntu with Windows as host

Post by Maralady »

Hello, I have the Windows 7 64-bit version, I have been trying to install Ubuntu as the guest OS, everything goes just fine until the end, however when it says: Please restart to finish the installation, the program (VM) stops working, for some reason, again EVERYTHING runs just fine until that moment, what should I do?

Start the VM again, and it should all be fine, regardless of the crash.

It did not work, it keeps doing the same, if I restart the VM, Ubuntu tries to install again, I have NO idea of what I am doing wrong followed several tutorials by now, still getting the same error

Just like in a real PC once the install finishes you need to remove the cd from the virtual cd drive or is will boot to that drive and start the install process again.

Yes - the Ubuntu installation should also tell you to remove the CD/DVD from the drive before rebooting.

I think it is working, but now I am getting an error that says "The system is running in low graphics mode". I have an ASUS, it has 2 graphic cards and Nvidia and the Integrated one, however so far the only thing that I know is that the computer will only use the Nvidia card when it is needed, I was able to use Ubuntu at VM like 8 months ago at this same computer without having all this problems, not sure what is different now, please can someone advice me?

Dual graphics mode is up to the host to determine what to do. There will be a setting for this in the host OS or in the bios, but it has to run on the high graphics adapter. Plus you need to install the guest additions if they are not already installed and make sure that 3D acceleration is enabled in the guest settings.

Ubuntu people (and others, mind you) made some choices that ruin the VM experience for the end-users... Sadly, not much can be done on this side... But we share your pain.
