Hello,
I am trying to use Mullvad VPN on my Linux guest. I installed their Linux client with no issues. However, when I turn on the VPN, I am no longer able to use the internet. Firefox simply gets stuck on "connecting" and does nothing else.
Do I have to configure the virtual machine to allow use of a VPN somehow? I need to be able to use a VPN on my virtual machines.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Using a VPN
Make sure your Virtual Machine is using Bridged mode in the network settings. Any other mode will not work properly, or at all.

Re: Using a VPN
I am able to use the internet with NAT (but I cannot use the VPN). But when I switch to bridged, I am not even able to use the internet. I've tried each of the different promiscuous modes (although I'm not entirely sure what these do).

Re: Using a VPN
Bridged mode means that your VM become a separate entity, from a network point of view. It means that you need to either have a DHCP server running, or give it a static IP.
Any configuration in place on the host would need to be replicated.

Re: Using a VPN
Thanks for the information.
I understand what you are saying, but I am very new to Linux and I have never set up anything like that on Linux before. I am using Linux Mint 15 and Ubuntu 13.04 desktop. Do you have any suggestions for guides that a newby can follow?
I'm not being lazy, I promise! I'm looking for one as soon as I post this. But if someone else can show me the way to a nice guide before I find one, then it saves time.

Re: Using a VPN
You'll need two kind of ressources then :
- A guide on how to configure networking in Linux, but I don't have a good guide at hand.
- The User Manual of Virtualbox, at the Networking chapter
