I have installed VB 4.2.16 and guest additions.

I have old printer (HP 1200 Laserjet). Under windows 7 i can't print on both sides (problem with drivers) so i decided to install windows xp on the virtual machine.
It is first time when i use virtualbox so please be understanding.

I will show what the problem is on 1-2-3 steps printscreen. The same problem I have with few other usb devices but for example usb flash memory works good.

How can I solve this problem?
Thank you for help and sorry for my english :)
I apologize if anything is unclear. Tell me and I will try to explain the problem better.

Create a matching filter for the device in VM settings | USB. I also find it best to plug the device in after the guest has finished booting up.

ps. Have you tried simply Googling for updated HP 1200 drivers?

I thought that I created i filter for the device. I presented this on the first printscreen.

Yes, I have. I have the drivers for my printer for windows 7 and I can print, I can also choose the duplex in the settings but it doesn't work. It is a very popular problem with older model of printers and no one was able to solve this.
In the other hand duplex works pretty well under Windows XP. I hope that VirtualBox it the solution.

Thank you for your response and interest in my problem

Did you allow the host to install the VirtualBox USB filter driver for this device?

The error message means that the host owns the device and is reluctant to give it up. Hence my advice that it's best to plug the device in after the guest has finished booting up.

I have answered variations on your question more times than I really care to. You might find it useful to read this thread in which I describe how to connect a USB device. It's a different device though the procedure is the same.
