VirtualBox Installation Problem on Windows 8 64bit

Post by joseddon »

When I click on the file VirtualBox-4.2.16-86992-Win.exe get an error message: Installation failed! Error: The system cannot find the file specified.
the same happens with earlier versions of VirtualBox. The computer is a Samsung NP355E4C, with 8GB of RAM, WINDOWS 8 64bit.

I've removed your other post, which was a duplicate but not in english.
Do you run the file directly or a shortcut of it? Could you attach a full screenshot of the error?

IMHO your original post made the problem clearer. VirtualBox (or the Windows MSI installer) has in the past had issues related to the use of accented characters in file names or paths (e.g. as in "instalación"). Try to ensure that the installer .exe file is located in a folder (not the root folder) which uses only unaccented roman characters.
