WHS 2011 in VirtualBox -RAID 1 hard drive with serverfolders

Hey there,

I have some issues with my small server. The hardware runs with Windows 8. Virtualbox has been installed without any problems. On that machine run a view VMs, Windows XP, Windows Home Server 2011 and Windows 7. The hard drive, where Virtualbox is installed to, is a 60 GB SSD. The server folders from WHS 2011 shall be moved to the RAID-1 hard drive (2 WD 1,5 TB EARS in RAID-1). The problem is, the server folders have to share there content in my home network to other computers, for example my ultrabook.

Does someone of you has a solution for my problem? I already read a not really bad instruction, but I didn't secure the link to that website and now, some weeks later, I can't find the site anymore.

Thanks to all, who will write an answer to my question.

Greetings, Henning

If you are using bridged mode for your networking, file sharing will work in just the same way as if the server was running on a physical machine on the network. There is nothing else to do in VirtualBox. It is purely a Windows networking and file sharing issue.
