Host-Only Adapter interferes with Windows Remote Assistance.
I occasionally use Windows Remote Assistance to support some family members with various PC issues and have noticed that the VirtualBox Host-Only Adapter seems to interfere with WRA's ability to reach the Internet. If I disable the adapter before a session it works fine, but I'd like to find a more streamlined solution. So far I've tried adding the *NdisDeviceType (1) DWORD to the appropriate registry hive with no luck. Doing so resolves the "unknown network" association with the adapter, but WRA access is still blocked (presumably by the firewall) even after a host reboot. I've also looked into adding a gateway to the adapter's TCP/IP settings, but the adapter resides on a separate subnet which has left me stumped as to what address I should assign. This isn't a terribly pressing issue, but I'd nevertheless be most appreciative to anyone that might lend me some clues here. Please let me know what additional info might be needed. This is a Windows 8 machine on a wired LAN, by the way.

Re: Host-Only Adapter interferes with Windows Remote Assista
Ok so this is the correct config. Don't add any gateway or you'll break networking on the machine. I am under the impression WRA simply use the wrong interface to send its invitation, but that would be weird for it to especially select an interface.

Edit: It didn't grab the adapter config the first time for some reason, even though it was enabled. The output below should be complete.

Re: Host-Only Adapter interferes with Windows Remote Assista
Nothing wrong network wize, looks like WRA is the one playing stupid. Next stop would be some packet sniffing to see what it is sending and where...

Ugh. That's kind of what I figured. Thanks for taking the time to check this out and reply. If I find anything I'll definitely post back, but for now this one is headed to the back burner.
