Bridge Mode Issue

I'm new to VirtualBox so please show mercy
Host runs Windows8 and I'm connected to the network through WLAN. I try to run a Windows XP guest instance with Bridge Mode settings and I have no luck getting an IP address. I have tried both PCnet Fast III and Intel PRO / 100 T Server adapters.
Any suggestions or guidance on this issue?
Thank you in advance

Assuming that the virtual machine is loading the appropriate driver for the virtual NIC you've selected, I would recommend the following:
1.) Open the Settings of the virtual machine.
2.) Under the Network section expand the Advanced hidden pull-down menu and make sure that the option labeled "Cable connected" is checked.

Wifi Bridging will not always work due to the inherent fact that Wifi connections should be Point 2 Point type. When you bridge, you actually transform this P2P link into a multiaccess link (like a switch).
Depending on your hardware, wifi NIC + access point/wifi router and their capability of handing such a situation, it might or might not work.
Try with a cabled conection first to this exact same Wifi box. If it works, then your hardware doesn't support Wifi bridging.

Hi guys and thank you for your replies. I have successfully bridged my desktop computer and I have internet access to the VM with bridged mode settings. The progress on my laptop VM through WiFi is that at least I bridged the VM to the point that it can be in the same default gateway as the host (192.168.1.1). The problem now is that I don't have internet connection. I used ping to check if all the VM and hosts "see" each other on the network and everything works fine. My only issue now is that I don't have internet access to the WiFi VM. Little by little
