Hello people,
I have windows 8 host and ubuntu 12.04 LTS guest in VirtualBox 4.2.16. I installed Ubuntu with default VirtualBox configurations.
I would like to share Ubuntu's Documents folder with windows host machine. I have tried different tutorial that saying simply share ubuntu's folder, install services and it will be visible on windows network. I also tried to install Samba Server on Ubuntu and make ubuntu workgroup the same that windows using. None of these worked for me.
Can anyone help?

Re: Problem with sharing Ubuntu's Documents Folder with Wind
Make sure the VM is configured with Host-Only or Bridged. NAT is the default configuration and will not work for this kind of requirement (server kind).

Thanks for the respond.noteirak wrote:Make sure the VM is configured with Host-Only or Bridged. NAT is the default configuration and will not work for this kind of requirement (server kind).
Can you please check my network settings, see attachments.
Also, what should be my workgroup in Samba configuration on Ubuntu VM?

I would avoid Wifi-type of bridging, tends to either work or not at all, depending on the hardware (computer & access point).
If only the host requires the share, you should try host-only first. If you set it to bridge, it will also depends on your host connection.
Samba is out of scope of this forum, but you'll find many examples & howto on google.
