Are you using Snapshots?

Have a look in the directory with the guest files. As i remember there is a backup of the ".vbox" file.

No idea what happened.

Are you using Snapshots?

If not, simply create a new guest, pointing to the existing vdi-file.

Don't do that. Make sure VirtualBox is completely shut down. Look in the folder "C:\Users\aeq00045\VirtualBox VMs\XP PRO\" and see what is in there. If there's a file with a ".vbox-tmp" extension then rename it to ".vbox". Otherwise, if there's a file with a ".vbox-prev" extension then rename it to ".vbox".

I note that your posts above are referring to a VDI file which is not in the standard location. If you have been moving VM files around without properly understanding how to do so, then all bets are off. In that case the error would be due to you moving the registered file mentioned in the message.

Thanks renaming of .vbox-temp solved the issue. Great Help
