guest OS not installing on oracle virtual box

Post by sahmad »

I installed oracle virtual box 4.2.16 r86992 with latest virtual box extensions for 4.2.16 , but after the installation of guest OS sol10 64 or Oracle Linux 64 (which also goes fine ) when I hit the REBOOT button , OVM crashes with the msg "oracle virtual box have stopped working "
guest is in aborted state from this point on.

The memory assigned to guest is 4096 Mb, total host memory is 16 Gb.

host OS is windows 7 64 bit and virtualization is enabled in BIOS. Laptop is Toshiba Satellite S55 with intel i7 chipset.

What happens if you start the guest? Is it usable?

Are you installing from an ISO? Or is it a physical CD/DVD?

Anyway the log contains 26000 occurrences of :-

etc...
I would try it with "Use host I/O cache" disabled on all disk controllers in the VM settings Storage section, at least until the installation is done. If using the hosts physical drive it may be worth making an ISO image instead.
