Lets say I have a dual booting computer; Windows 7 and Debian.
Hard disk: 320 GB
60 GB: Windows (C:)
200 GB: Windows (D:)
30 GB: Debian
I created a virtual machine in D: drive from Debian. I installed Windows XP in it.
My question is can I configure virtualbox such a way that I can access the VM from Windows 7 too?
I can see the .vdi file in the D: drive.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Accessing the same Virtual machine from different OS
If you mean can you read what's on the .vdi file from Windows 7 no. If you mean can you run it as a virtual machine from Windows 7 yes. You would have to install VirtualBox in Windows 7, create a VM for Windows XP but instead of creating a HD you would attach the existing .vdi file. You might have to change the permissions for the .vdi file.

If you are going to do this then make sure that neither VM is using snapshots or any other kind of differencing image scheme (linked clone, immutable drive etc).

Are you asking
- When I define a new virtual machine, is it possible to specify an existing .vdi (virtual hard drive)?
