Hi,
When cloning the Windows 2008 server guest, I get this

Failed to clone the virtual machine WIN08ENTSS12VS12I.

Could not create the clone medium 'h:\VMs\WIN08ENTSS12VS12BCK8H\WIN08ENTSS12VS12BCK8H-disk1.vdi' (VERR_IO_CRC).

Result Code: VBOX_E_FILE_ERROR (0x80BB0004)
Component: Medium
Interface: IMedium {29989373-b111-4654-8493-2e1176cba890}

Why?

Sounds like your drive has serious damage. (not the guests VDI)
I would run a disk check and a backup soon.

Thanks a lot. I did the fix in H drive, like

Code: Select all

C:\Users\HP>chkdsk h:/F
The type of the file system is NTFS.
Volume label is My Book.

CHKDSK is verifying files (stage 1 of 3)...
  959424 file records processed.
File verification completed.
  2137 large file records processed.
  0 bad file records processed.
  0 EA records processed.
  0 reparse records processed.
CHKDSK is verifying indexes (stage 2 of 3)...
  979130 index entries processed.
Index verification completed.
  0 unindexed files scanned.
  0 unindexed files recovered.
CHKDSK is verifying security descriptors (stage 3 of 3)...
  959424 file SDs/SIDs processed.
Security descriptor verification completed.
  9854 data files processed.
CHKDSK is verifying Usn Journal...
  9308584 USN bytes processed.
Usn Journal verification completed.
Windows has checked the file system and found no problems.

1953480703 KB total disk space.
1243999172 KB in 40544 files.
     16312 KB in 9855 indexes.
         0 KB in bad sectors.
1094967 KB in use by the system.
65536 KB occupied by the log file.
 708370252 KB available on disk.

4096 bytes in each allocation unit.
488370175 total allocation units on disk.
177092563 allocation units available on disk.
and then have got

Code: Select all

C:\Users\HP>chkdsk h:
The type of the file system is NTFS.
Volume label is My Book.

WARNING! F parameter not specified.
Running CHKDSK in read-only mode.

But I still have got the same

Code: Select all

CRC error implies a serious problem with the drive, i.e. hard sector errors, not simple filesystem errors of the type you fix with "chkdsk /f". "chkdsk /r" should give the disk a more exhaustive check, but will of course take a lot longer.

Or perhaps you should consider cloning to a different drive.
