Mapping Windows File Extensions to o[en in Mac Applications

Hello,
I am new to virtualbox and so far, I like what I see. I am running OS X 10.8.4 as the host and Windows 7 Pro as the guest. I have used both Parallels and VMware Fusion, which both have there issues with Coherence and Unity. Virtualbox seamless mode... so far seems stabler and has fewer artifacts.
The only problem I see at this point is... I don't see a way to map files on the guest OS to open in Applications on the Host OS. This can be done in both Parallels and VMware Fusion.
In my case, I am running Outlook 2010 in vitualbox (Win7 Pro) and I open an email with an attached PDF. I would like to double click the PDF in Outlook 2010 to have it open in Mac Preview on the host OS. I would like word files to open in Word for Mac and Excel files to open in Excel for Mac.
Is there a way to do this in VirtualBox?
Thanks,
Ray
